On Thanksgiving day, I made a pit stop at the Pismo Beach Monarch Butterfly Grove ~ I would have driven right by but the traffic was backed up due to the hoards of people parking and haphazardly crossing the street. Turns out, they were looking up!
The trees within the monarch butterfly grove were saturated with orange; almost every square inch was drenched in butterflies…if they all flew away at once the tree would actually breathe a sigh of relief for the lightened load. It’s increadible to see, really. Out of all of the eucalyptus trees in this area, this small grove is the monarchs’ favorite! And I find those pics cool and all…but I led with the pic above: picture of a young girl sharing a butterfly which had landed on her hand, with a nearly blind boy. His reaction is perhaps what you’d expect from someone really seeing a butterfly ~ up close ~ in its natural habitat ~ for the first time.
After witnessing this moment I looked back again at the trees…and they looked, heavier.
