Shaun+Jennifer’s Union Hill Inn Wedding ~ this beautiful sanctuary in Sonora hosts an incredible weekend-long celebration…the ‘Union’ Hill is appropriately named and its beauty is beyond description! Hopefully, the following photos can give you some idea of just how excellent this wedding was!
A little rehearsal magic on Union Hill
Upon arrival, I spent a couple of hours getting acquainted with this magnificent property (with camera in hand). Despite the recent-devastating fire which, destroyed the historic inn (view), the property has endless beauty. (The map shown below, by Bethany Crass, is helpful for navigating the property!) The garden was lush and every building is filled with charter & history. There are countless spaces that just invite guests to hang out in them…The views are unparalleled and the property, which resides a couple-hundred feet from highway 49, feels a million miles away from everything. I concluded, this seems like a sweet spot to get married!
On the morning of the wedding, the vibe was calm. Breakfast was served at the Rusty Buckle Barn and guests enjoyed coffee during the proverbial ‘calm before the storm.’ Within a few hours, the day had awoken and wedding preparations began. I jumped into the ‘bridal cottage’ and ‘groom’s coup’ to capture the ironing, hair & makeup, bouquet prep and of course, and of course a little bit of ‘taking the edge off.’
The first look happened beneath a beautiful Willow tree next to a little pond, and we made a quick trip to the chapel to get some wedding party photos. Then it was time to prep for the big event…the following hours flew by, filled with Kodak moments. Reception hall welcomed the newlyweds with pizza & beer ~ like any good party should! And the night continued with speeches & dances by the couple & their families. By the time the dance floor opened to the rest of the guests, they were ready to ramp it up ~ backed by a laser light show courtesy of the DJ.
Congrats to Jen & Shaun on a beautiful ceremony ~ they made the Union Hill Inn an even more excellent place over Memorial Day weekend! Best wishes to these two ~ hope to see you soon!
