Ella’s Vineyard Glowing Fall Wedding

There’s some kind of magic about a fall wedding in San Luis Obispo, like this wedding at Ella’s Vineyard. It just had that glowy fall vibes-only feeling, no pumpkin latte required. It also doesn’t hurt that the venue is the epitome of picturesque. In total, the vineyard covers over 32 acres, with just under 12 acres planted with vines that will eventually become their award-winning wine.

As a wedding venue, Ella’s Vineyard loves to give couples a wedding day at a relaxed pace. No rushing, no forced timelines, just tranquility, joy, and a pretty rockin party. One of the things they offer to their couples for that laid-back experience is their farmhouse. Located on their grounds, a two-night stay at their farmhouse is included when you plan a wedding at Ella’s Vineyard.

I have to tell you, there aren’t a whole lot of venues in the area that include overnight accommodations in your venue fee, so it’s kind of a big deal. The farmhouse sleeps up to 14 guests in total. Whether you want it to be just the two of you, or you want to invite the members of your wedding party along for the stay and a mini afterparty or morning after brunch, it’s pretty amazing.

The couple I worked with, Ella and Kyle, tied the knot at Ella’s vineyard. Yes, the bride’s name is also Ella! But, before I get into the details of their wedding, first things first. I met with Ella and Kyle to capture their engagement photos in San Luis Obispo. Alright, friends, engagement photos – let’s discuss. Are engagement photos necessary? As a photographer, well, you can guess what might answer might be to that.

First, this whole crazy life journey you are on together is so much more than a wedding day celebration. Don’t get me wrong, that is super important too. But don’t skip over enjoying your engagement just to get to it, either. Meeting with Ella and Kyle for their engagement photos, I felt like we were able to capture the essence of their candor together. Couple that with the epic views in SLO when the sun is doing its thing across the horizon, and you have a recipe for fall engagement photos that are hauntingly stunning.

When their Ella’s Vineyard wedding day arrived, I met up with Ella and Kyle once they were already dressed to impress and ready to go. The mood was chill but filled with excitement. Their ceremony was set under an old oak tree on the grounds of the vineyard. Behind the oak tree. A backdrop that included vineyards as far as the eye could see. I wasn’t kidding when I said Ella’s Vineyard was picturesque. Drenched in the glow of the fall sun, this place was beyond idyllic. It had that whole sun-drenched coastal charm going on that Nancy Meyers is so famous for.

Once Ella and Kyle were pronounced, I worked with them on their wedding portraits on the grounds of the vineyard. There were so many cool little nooks around every corner that we used as the backdrop for their photos. But, in the backdrop, the department, the star of the show was definitely the vineyards themselves. The colors in the vines are exactly what you might expect if you pictured a fall wedding. Hues of red, green, yellow, and orange, which looked like pure magic with the sun touching down. But, I’m going to let the photos speak for themselves. Meet the crew

Blake Andrews founded SLOtography in 2008 and now works alongside photographer James Lester and videographer Robin Ayers. Together, they bring more than 30 years of experience (and serious good vibes) to weddings and events throughout San Luis Obispo and the Central Coast.

Natalie & Jaron threw one of the most unforgettable weddings I’ve had the joy of capturing — a colorful, campy, non-traditional celebration at the iconic @madonnainn1958 that broke every mold in the best way possible. Think: a tattoo bar, a 1900s box camera photobooth, rhinestones, cowboy boots, floral his & her outfits and some serious line dancing magic…

There’s not enough space here to show it all >> venture to the blog (link in profile) for more :)
