Cynthia & Louie’s Dana Powers House wedding was incredible. Seriously, we joked on Instagram about smiling so hard all day as a reflection of Cynthia’s joy. But, in truth, I had to tell her to tone it down. Odd, right? It was all per Cynthia’s personal request, promise. Louie was more of a ‘smile-on-the-inside’ kind of guy. But, you bet, the second he beamed from ear to ear (unprompted of course) I was right there to capture it.
Cynthia and Louie’s beginning dates all the way back to their childhood. Back in the day, Louie had a massive crush on Cynthia, and she barely knew he existed. Well, we can’t exactly vouch for the second half of that statement. But we know for a fact that Louie’s heart has always belonged to Cynthia. And, what do you get when two childhood friends get married? A wedding day oozing with goodness.
When Cynthia and Louie began the wedding planning process, they chose to get married with a Dana Powers House wedding. The venue (technically two, but we’ll get to that in a minute) is set against the foothills of Southern San Luis Obispo County. The home and barn are two different venue sites, equally beautiful and varying in the experience they provide. But, nonetheless, Cynthia and Louie chose the barn for their wedding day.

I’ll jump ahead in their story for a minute to tell you that on the day of their Dana Powers house wedding, the barn was completely their own. It was transformed in every way possible. Hanging from the ceiling were rows and rows of white papel picado that repeated a pattern of their names and the word ‘amor’. Giving the papel picado a glow were chandeliers and string lights that burned bright. And the dance floor? Covered with all the money from their dollar dance. Well, the dollars that didn’t get directly pinned onto the newlwyeds by their friends and family anyway.
Off to the side was a massive dessert table with a three-tier cake accented by vibrant florals, and baskets full of churros dusted with cinnamon. The flowers, by the way, were all created by Cynthia’s cousin. I have to admit, the vibrant colors and the abundant displays matched Cynthia’s spirit to a ‘t’. Shout out to Janet, who needs to heed her calling with wedding florals. But, before we even got to all of that. Before the dancing, before the bouquet toss, and before the heart-shaped sunglasses with their wedding day emblazoned on them, there was so much more.
Cynthia and Louie’s Dana Powers House wedding ceremony took place on the lawn. Where proud parents watched with joy and seats were reserved for those they hold dearest. Where vibrant florals (yep – more florals!) set the mood and Cynthia and Louie were joined in marriage. I’ve come to believe that the best wedding ceremonies are filled with laughter. In that department, Cynthia and Louie’s wedding ceremony definitely checked the box. Once they were pronounced married, they made their way down the aisle together. Their guests waited with fistfuls of flower petals to toss at the newlyweds in celebration.
