This romantic & ethereal wedding at Cavalli Estate San Luis Obispo was the coming together of two high school sweethearts. Sarah and Zael met at just 15 years old, through a phone call. They’ve spent half of their lives together so when it was time for them to tie the knot, they did it up pretty big. Naturally, after spending half of their lifetime together, their wedding at Cavalli Estate was full of all the good stuff. A wedding welcome party slash rehearsal dinner, a great big old wedding day, and a farewell party; poolside.
With modern dating apps, a story like Sarah and Zael’s is anything but average. It’s not every day that high school sweethearts get married, and it’s even less often that you hear about a couple meeting over the phone – sans video chat and texting; crazy to think about right? But their love is based on a deep connection that they’ve consistently fostered through a high level of support over the years they’ve shared together. As a wedding photographer, I have to admit, that it’s truly a rare occurrence to witness such an enduring love between two young souls. But it’s also one of the more remarkable, awe-inspiring things about working in the wedding industry.
The weekend kicked off with their welcome party slash rehearsal dinner soiree at Cavalli Estate San Luis Obispo. The night was positively packed with their wedding party, their closest family members, and of course, their pup. Cavalli Estate is a massive property with an equestrian center and endless acreage of lavender. I didn’t exactly get to see too many horses, but the lavender was bustling. It was abundant in sprawl and added to the lush views that seemed to go on for miles. By the way, if you’re planning a multi-day wedding weekend, a venue like Cavalli Estate San Luis Obispo is the perfect location to host all of your guests for each and every event.
Weather-wise we were in for a gusty weekend and cloudy skies. But it only added to the ambiance of the romantic and ethereal mood, setting the stage for Sarah and Zael to be joined in marriage. The night of their rehearsal Sarah and Zael’s guests had plenty to share in the way of stories, tall tales, and heartfelt sentiments about the couple. It was truly a beautiful way to spend the evening honoring them as we all waited for their wedding day to dawn.
When wedding day arrived, it was all systems go. I arrived at Cavalli Estate San Luis Obispo early that morning. The mood was tranquil and the weather was still doing its thing. Sarah and the members of her wedding party got ready at the home on Cavalli’s property and Zael took a quick morning stroll by the pool before meeting Sarah for their first look. Dresses were steamed, and hair was sprayed to outlast the wind, and their adorable pup was firmly placed in a bird-repellent vest and ready to report for duty (aka walking down the aisle).
I was so ready to see Sarah and Zael get married and capture 15 years of anticipation and raw emotion. Their wedding day was everything, but so much more. I’ll spare you the details and let the images do the talking. Scroll through the photos below to see more from Sarah & Zael’s Cavalli Estate San Luis Obispo wedding.
