If you can’t beat ’em, take pictures of ’em. As the mantra of “everyone is Irish” on St. Patty’s Day resounds in the heads of early morning drinkers, green-wearers and jaywalkers, I was actually thinking, if I can’t join ’em, take pictures of ’em. So, instead of putting green beads around my neck I opted for a camera strap.
Adorning one’s self with in green & shamrocks and filling the belly with an abundance of booze at 6am is a modern American tradition. Like most holidays, we’ve hijacked this one from another culture, stripped it of nearly all of its historic significance, butchered the authentic attire in favor of something sexier and filled the resulting voids with alcohol (see Halloween, Cinco de Mayo, etc.).
