This wedding at The Penny San Luis Obispo was fun modern, and downright pretty fabulous. Monica and Shannon’s wedding day was nothing short of amazing. Sometimes, I can’t believe that I get to spend my time capturing a couple’s big day. Especially when it involves the couple referring to their guests as their ‘biggest fans’.
Monica and Shannon are so deeply in love. They share the kind of love that is palpable when you are in the presence of it. Its so good that it reverberates to everyone around them, bouncing off the walls and creating a sea of joy. Can you imagine what being in the presence of this kind of love felt like on their wedding day? Amazing. Though they named their guests their biggest fans, I have to say, after seeing the love their parents have for the brides, it was clear who their biggest fans really were.
The Penny San Luis Obispo
This venue, The Penny San Luis Obispo, is urban and charming. As a wedding venue, they offer two tailored wedding day packages. The first is a ‘venue only package’, which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. Access to the entire venue on your wedding day. The second package at The Penny San Luis Obispo is an ‘all-inclusive wedding day package’. Which, again, is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. An all-inclusive wedding day package that includes a food and beverage service, decor, and coordination.
It’s also a venue that has some history to it! The building was orignally opened in the 1930s as a blacksmith shop. It’s retained much of it’s orginal charm, including some of the industrial fixtures. But, with all the modern amaenites you might need for your wedding day. All in all, the venue is an indoor/outdoor space with an open and welcoming atmosphere. So if you’re in the process of planning your wedding, and seraching for a venue in San Luis Obispo, I highly recommend checking it out.
The overall atmosphere at The Penny San Luis Obispo is very urban chic. It’s brick wall meets barn meets city. Leaving the space open to your own wedding day vision. Monica and Shannon’s wedding day at The Penny merged the venue’s overall atmosphere with their own brand of whimsy. There were boho florals, a ‘bubble girl’ in lieu of a flower girl, chic attire, and fun moments. Sounds pretty amazing right? It was! But what made this approach truly stand out was that it was layered with serious amounts of joy and happiness. The exact amount you might expect from the people you love the most who gather on your wedding day to celebrate, well, you.
Boho Wedding Flowers
Remember those boho flowers I mentioned? Monica and Shannon made sure they were everywhere at The Penny San Luis Obispo. Bouquets, tabletop arrangements, floral accents, and wedding ceremony statement pieces. The boho flowers were on full display. They went a little something like this. Dried pampas grass with cat’s tail in cream-colored earth tones. But, the long family-style tables also had another fun accent sitting on top to show off Monica and Shannon’s personalities. Placards of all their favorite national parks were done up in a retro-style print.
The night of their wedding was an absolute success with good food, great conversation and some of the best dance floor moves. In fact, the dance floor was packed with both Monica and Shannon busting out the moves with a drink in hand and reveling in the fun atmosphere. But, you’ll just have to see it to believe it.
