An Epic 40th Birthday with a Madonna Inn Room Tour

Celebrating a 40th Birthday with 40 friends sounds like an adventure of epic proportions! Picture this: 20 couples, each assigned to a uniquely themed room, sharing laughs and creating memories that will last a lifetime. With 110 Unique Rooms at the Madonna Inn, there is no shortage of character and charm. This makes it the perfect backdrop for a celebration. The Madonna Inn Room Tour is not just a party; it’s an experience filled with creativity, fun, and Instagram-worthy moments. Imagine the conversations flowing as each couple reveals the inspiration behind their chosen rooms, adding layers of storytelling to the evening.

The concept of inviting 20 of your closest, quirkiest couple friends to gather together and dress in the theme of their chosen hotel room is nothing short of brilliant.

Each couple could pick a room that resonates with their personality, showcasing their unique tastes and interests. This is a soon-to-be fad—mark my words. Beyond just the fun of dressing up, the evening is an opportunity to explore the individuality of each room and, by extension, the couples themselves. What better way for Renee and Chris to celebrate turning 40 than to shift the focus from aging out of their prime to fully embracing an era of fun, creativity, and adventure with the Madonna Inn Room Tour? Every moment becomes a photo opportunity, a cherished memory, and a testament to friendship.

Enter the Madonna Inn Room Tour—the ultimate way to experience San Luis Obispo’s most iconic and unapologetically quirky hotel.

With 110 themed rooms, each wildly unique and dripping in kitschy charm, this legendary spot becomes the perfect playground for a milestone celebration.

From the Caveman Room, featuring rock walls and a waterfall shower, to the Love Nest, dripping in pinks and pastels, couples will be captivated by the sheer diversity of themes and decorations.

Each room offers a new ambiance that inspires creativity and fun. This setting is not just about a night out; it’s about crafting a narrative, sharing experiences, and indulging in the whimsical nature of the Madonna Inn.

Picture this: A lively group of friends decked out in elaborate outfits that perfectly match their room’s aesthetic, parading through the hallways of the Madonna Inn on a self-guided room tour, cocktails in hand, laughter echoing down the corridors.

The energy is contagious as couples showcase their creativity and the unique interpretations of the room themes. Every door opening reveals a new, over-the-top surprise—brightly colored shag carpets, gaudy chandeliers, gilded mirrors, and wildly themed décor straight out of a fever dream. It’s a sensory overload, making for an unforgettable evening filled with joyous moments and playful antics.

Imagine the fun photo ops and the stories shared throughout the night as friends navigate through this quirky labyrinth of wonders.

For Renee and Chris, turning 40 isn’t about slowing down—it’s about embracing the unexpected, reveling in the eccentric, and making memories that feel larger than life.

Every couple’s participation adds a unique flair to the celebration, making it more than just a birthday party.

And let’s be real: when it comes to quirky, immersive celebrations, the Madonna Inn Room Tour might just be the next big thing, ushering in a new era of themed parties and creative gatherings. The evening becomes a celebration of love, friendship, and the joy of living life to the fullest, and the Madonna Inn serves as the perfect host.

Experience the Magic of the Madonna Inn Room Tour

The Madonna Inn’s reputation for its whimsical and eccentric décor reaches beyond just its rooms.

The hotel is also home to stunning gardens and event spaces that can enhance any celebration.

For guests attending the Room Tour, exploring the outdoor spaces can add a refreshing contrast to the vibrant indoor themes.

The Secret Garden, with its lush greenery and romantic ambiance, invites couples to take a break from the festivities and enjoy intimate moments amidst nature.

The Venetian Room and the Round Room offer elegant settings for dining and dancing, providing versatility to the celebration.

Imagine the joy of each couple as they enter their themed rooms, fully immersing themselves in the experience.

Some might be dressed as cavemen, fully embracing the theme of the Caveman Room with fur and faux stone accessories, while others might flaunt elegant vintage attire to complement the charm of the Swiss Chalet.

Each outfit is a conversation starter, reflecting the couple’s personality and creativity, adding layers of fun to the gathering. The opportunity to dress up and engage with the room’s theme allows for deeper connections among friends, as they bond over the shared experience of the night.

Some examples include:

Meet the crew

441

That’s how many weddings I just counted—441 weddings I’ve had the pleasure of capturing. All time.

Starting in 2008, that’s an average of 26 weddings per year! Wow. Yes, that includes elopements. However, I’ve also calculated that, on average, I spend about six hours capturing each wedding.

For all of you who love numbers, this one’s for you. And here’s a big one:

500.

For a long time, I had the number 500 in mind—like, “After 500, I’m out!”

At the rate I’ve been going for the last five years, I’ll hit 500 by the end of 2026.

Spoiler: I’m not retiring in 2027. That’d be no fun. So maybe 2037? I’ll lay down my camera, and I’ll…
