San Luis Obispo has it’s own ‘Silicon Valley’ and its nucleus is Trust Automation (for the official report, check out The Tribune). Owners of Trust Automation, Ty and Trudie Safreno, were honored today to receive the award for 2013 Central California Small Business Person(s) of the Year by the US Small Business Administration. I was in attendance as the award was presented today at Trust’s Headquarters on Suburban Road in San Luis Obispo.
Upon receiving the plaque commemorating this achievement, Ty & Trudy were quite adamant to point out that this award really belongs to the entire company, and not just the two two of them. One can see from their group picture below that Trust is one big happy family.
During my brief tour of this locally born and bred company, I gathered this much: Trust makes the machines – that make the machines – that make the parts – that power our machines…read that over a few times and let me know if that makes sense. The employees were happy to show me around and even explain to me how one of their prized machines works; this was helpful because upon first inspection, the machine appeared to be a futuristic jukebox that played laser discs.
Many thanks to the employees at Trust Automation for showing me around. I hope you enjoy the pictures!
