Morro Bay Kite Festival ’14

Tandem Kite Dance

“Now in its eighth year, the Morro Bay Kite Festival attracts between 3,000 and 5,000 spectators every year, as well as dozens of professional kite flyers.” -The Tribune

Morro Bay Kite Festival ’14

Literally, dozens of professional kite flyers, in Morro Bay, unreal! I guess when they heard the expression “go fly a kite” they did not detect the sarcasm. When one watches a kite ‘routine,’ which is choreographed to a song (typically something in the 80’s glam rock category…Foreigner, Journey, etc.), it’s hard not to chuckle a bit. But when taken seriously, kite dancing is a clear demonstration of ample free time ~ possible retirement, an appreciation for bright colors and flying objects.
