Abbey Road in Cambria (Not Really)

JR & Melodie married in September in Cambria, California with yours truly covering their photos ~ I think it was a pretty good plan. Unfortunately, the rain came in. Additionally, their wedding photographer got confused and showed up late…just a little late – late enough to miss the ceremony (which, I’m told was beautiful). Despite it all, these two delivered on a beautiful wedding & neither the bride & groom nor the guests lynched their photographer (when he finally arrived) and we were able to spend some quality time & get some beautiful photos on their day.

Many thanks to JR & Melodie for being cool, I’m positive that mantra will serve you well not matter what life throws your way, whether it’s a spacey photographer , a rainy wedding day or a one-size-fits-all kilt. Cheers! JR+Melodie ~ Cambria Wedding

Meet the crew

Blake Andrews founded SLOtography in 2008 and now works alongside photographer James Lester and videographer Robin Ayers. Together, they bring more than 30 years of experience (and serious good vibes) to weddings and events throughout San Luis Obispo and the Central Coast.

More About Us

Wow. Last weekend, we witnessed a blended/Indian wedding, filled with cultural traditions and incredible outfits…all at a Summer Camp with a view of the coast in Cambria…

‘Twas a dream. To any photographer, this is the dream concept. And that’s just the beginning. I’ll start with a small “flex” and say that Tinan told me on his wedding day, just as I was saying “thank you and goodnight…” that he and Sarah interviewed 15 photographers! 15. I can’t express how impressive it is that anyone would interview 15 people for any job…but wedding photography is pretty important…right? *biased ;). And when you’re trying to capture a summer-camp-themed wedding along the coast in a pine forest, with a mess hall and camp cabins, a cocktail hour with archery (with all the safety precautions in place, of course)…well, there’s a lot to capture! And at the end of the night, Tinan paid me the 2nd greatest compliment by telling me that I was exactly who they were looking for (the greatest compliment is picking me in the first place).

I don’t know exactly what it was that resonated with Tinan & Sarah when we spoke via Zoom a long while back…it wasn’t like, “oh, Blake is the GOAT,” and those other 14 photographers are chumps. No, no, no. It’s more like, we spend our lives looking for “the one” and, if we’re lucky, like Tinan & Sarah, we find that complementary soul. And in a very similar search, we seek out the perfect photographer…so, like the 2nd most important decision one might make in their life ;). And I’m not the best photographer, not the best for all, but I am the best for some. At the end of the night, as I cruise thru a gallery filled with photo memories, I am confident I am their soulmate in photographer form ;). And that is the best feeling…next to love, literally next to love.

It’s not only an immense privilege and absolute joy to photograph the wedding of a close friend and colleague, but Aerin & Robin’s celebration was truly one of a kind. Every moment was filled with surprises, whimsy, and so much heart. I feel incredibly grateful to have witnessed—and documented—their love. 💕 I’m so proud of Robin for the journey they’ve been on since the day we met (I think they were 17!) and every day since. Inspirational. And Aerin is every bit as amazing ~ these two are an explosion of beautiful in all of the ways. Congratulations!
