Chris+Jeff married at Saint Benedicts the weekend before Thanksgiving. It was a beautiful occasion celebrating the union of Jeff & Chris, who were able to go from partners to husbands because California, after much adieu about nothing, got their act together! Of course, this day wasn’t about an overdue law about same sex marriage, it was about Jeff & Chris ~ and their were a lot of fans of this couple in attendance to celebrate the occasion.
First of all, Saint Benedicts is beautiful: a quaint church with natural light that pours in ~ it was a pleasure to shoot in such a location. From the outside, the church is simple and beautiful: a tall steeple and a big porch.
The ceremony was unlike any I’d witnessed ~ with songs sung by all (even Chris!) and on multiple occasions, the attendees were invited to assemble in the middle of the church, hold on to one another, and pray. It was a special ceremony with a lot of love. Wilma, the officiant, provided an opportunity for everyone to get their photos of the couple before and after the ceremony ~ which was pretty fun to watch as Jeff & Chris stood up, smiled and then rotated such that the other side of the church could get their photos! And then Wilma requested that the phones and cameras be stowed away (except for one).
It was a pleasure to be in attendance & to capture this wonderful union! Cheers Jeff & Chris!
