Elizabeth+Anthony ~ Married! From the Mission to the Castle ~ a most excellent wedding celebration!

Even though Elizabeth is a SLOcal like me, we met for the first time at her brother & Kerry’s wedding {aka ‘the Schmidt Show‘} last year! I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know this crew over the past couple of years and they keep getting better ~ i.e.: Anthony (another excellent addition). These two are a sweet, kind & beautiful pair. It’s been such an honor to capture their love story over the past year, from their (Engagement Photos at beautiful Spreafico Farms}, to their pre-wedding rehearsal dinner at the Schmidt household…complete with Jello shots (of course)…to their exceptional wedding day!

Elizabeth, like all little girls, dreamed of getting married in a castle, and unlike most of those little dreamers, her dream came true! Tooth & Nail was there for her, complete with moat and all, to host an excellent party! Their wedding vows were exchanged at the Historic Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa (est. 1772) and the guests in attendance filled the pews with love to witness these two tie the knot! It was an exceptional day all around ~ and I’ve got a few pictures to show for it…see below. Meet the crew

Blake Andrews founded SLOtography in 2008 and now works alongside photographer James Lester and videographer Robin Ayers. Together, they bring more than 30 years of experience (and serious good vibes) to weddings and events throughout San Luis Obispo and the Central Coast.

Natalie & Jaron threw one of the most unforgettable weddings I’ve had the joy of capturing — a colorful, campy, non-traditional celebration at the iconic @madonnainn1958 that broke every mold in the best way possible. Think: a tattoo bar, a 1900s box camera photobooth, rhinestones, cowboy boots, floral his & her outfits and some serious line dancing magic…

A celestial celebration 🌕✨
Erica & Rob’s wedding at Swallow Creek Ranch was something out of a dream — a warm, pristine day with white-capped waves in the distance and a soft coastal breeze in the air. After 14 years together, they stood with their children, surrounded by family and friends, and promised forever.

The ceremony was heartfelt, the setting surreal, and the full moon rose like a quiet blessing over the evening. A day filled with meaning, memory, and love that’s stood the test of time. 💛

2 hrs with Corina+John on wedding day

What magical sequence of choices and fates have led me to a place in life, where I might be invited into celebrations like these…each unique, and then some profoundly so, (like yesterday with Natalie & Jaron), leaves me in a daze of gratitude. If you’re like me, and you get a contact high from Joy, perhaps you may be best served to start up a wedding business on a whim…and then, maybe, just maybe, you’d find yourself attending some of the world’s greatest weddings featuring its most excellent natural creations (human & landscape). It may sound quite enticing, it may not, but whatever it is, it is work.

17 years in, each Sunday, I wake up thoroughly exhausted and what drags me out of bed…well, it is literally my daughter (Juniper, 4, a blessing for another post) but if it weren’t for her, I’d still by crawling to my computer to see what my camera absorbed from the night before. And if you’re like me, these images may incite some kind of feelings, maybe invite in a particular mood, and I hope that, (like mine), it’s a good one.

If this sounds like a level of commitment you don’t care to add to your life, at least during this go-round the sun, just follow along ;). I’ll continue until I lay down my camera and I…thanks for the constant inspiration, all you beautiful people.

This week, I’d like to spotlight the uniqueness, beauty and love of Natalie & Jaron <3.

17 years of weddings, and I encountered so many firsts last night watching the magnificent Natalie & Jaron dance thru their wedding day with glee and looking so fly doing it…(more to come). Among those firsts, a couple of stick & poke artists serving up on-demand tattoos and this, a vintage Portrait Photographer taking back their rightful spot as the “Photobooth” at the wedding reception. And just when it couldn’t get any cooler…line-up and line dance. If you didn’t know what the Madonna Inn was built for, it was this. Congrats newlyweds, and thanks for throwing an unforgettable party and adding us to the list! <3 (us being me and my date, @djdamiancamacho).
