The Watchtower ~ Hiking SLO

Christmas Tree on Cerro San LuisPicture taken atop “The Watchtower.” To all the hikers, this one is for you. Those who realize that the view from the top is always better in person (probably ’cause of the hikers high you’re feeling when you finally reach the summit). To the bold who believe that it’s worth the sweat, aches, twisted ankles & the occasional, yet humbling, stop-to-catch-my-breath’s to achieve a goal. To the relics of volcanoes that shaped the earth into fascinating & challenging terrain that us humans can use for recreation, stimulation, frustration & contemplation. To the daring that hike without shoes & to the revolutionary that hike wearing shoes that mimic feet (yes, even them). This blog is for you!®The City of San Luis Obispo from a Birds Eye ViewGood Fences Make Happy TrailsCerro San Luis Sunset hikes are a trip…paying close attention as the birds fly home for the evening, passing the recently awoken nocturnal creatures as they start their day. The light changes dramatically, highlighting certain features before they become contrastingly dark as the sun dips behind the highest point on the horizon. Twilight begins & the temperature drops. The Moon takes over just as the nocturnal species did a moment ago…business as usual.
