Jay+Katie ~ Married!

Jay+Katie’s Dana Powers House WeddingWedding Bridal Boots

I’ve known Jay & Katie for awhile…and that’s a real good thing. Why? Because Jay & Katie, (and their respective families), are real good people. Their wedding was a showcase of good people, good times and…interesting weather. The rain in the early afternoon threatened to move the ceremony inside, which just didn’t seem right for these nature lovers. So the decision was made to endure the mud and let it rain! Of course, when the bride walked down the aisle the sun was shining down and not a drop of rain fell. Good call Jay & Katie.

Shooting a friend’s wedding is about as good as it gets from my perspective…I’ve been to a few weddings as a guest recently (not as a photographer), and my instinct to take pictures is hard to ignore. When it comes to watching the ceremony, hitting the dance floor and listening to speeches (perhaps even giving one), I’d much rather do it all with a camera in my hands. Therefore, I was thrilled when Jay & Katie asked me to photograph their wedding. First off – it meant I was invited! Secondly, I knew I didn’t have to get them a gift (besides the pictures ya’know). When all was said and done, after the dance party wrapped up and I had my celebratory beer, I couldn’t wait to see their photos. This is probably my best wedding yet: amazing people, incredible venue (the Dana Powers House) and an epic day. Trifecta.
